Adopted Dogs ... Success Stories!

These are just a sampling of some of the more recent adoptions.

This beautiful cat is Lily. She was found in a locked house that was for sale with no food or water. Owners moved away and a Good Samaritan called realtor and took her to get spayed and vaccinated. She’s about a year old. She is doing amazingly well in her foster home. The once-shy kitty has turned into an outgoing girl who soaks up attention. She is a super snuggler who purrs up a storm and gives tiny kisses.

It seems that Lily would be happy with a nice kitty pal (if you have one), and she may do okay with a dog who is not intent on chasing her. She has adjusted to hearing and seeing the dogs in her foster home, but she has not interacted with them. Lily would likely be fine as your 'one and only', too. This petite and dainty girl deserves a loving home. Can that be you? Please fill out an adoption application if you are interested in adopting Lily. Lily's adoption fee is $75.

Annie is approximately 1 year old, 21 pounds, spayed and current on shots. We are unsure of her breeds. Annie was found by tourists traveling through Northern Arizona. She had porcupine quills in her face, and they brought her to Golden Bone. Annie has one small eye which she was born with. It sometimes gets goopy and needs to be cleaned. She is on an antibiotic eye cream to clear it up. Annie is very mellow and quiet. She is trained to potty outside on walks. Annie needs a quiet, mellow home. She likes to be near her person. We have not heard Annie bark at anything. She will melt into your arms. She has been living in foster with a cat. She loves playing with other dogs and toys, and has a lot of energy. Annie's adoption fee is $275. If you are interested in adopting Annie, please fill out our adoption form. A home visit is required.

Jessie - Adoptable Dogs Jessie

Jessie  ADOPTED!

Mixed breed

I was found in a parking lot while looking for food and narrowly missed a truck that was coming my way. I am about 8 months (as of January) old and very playful and have a lot of energy. I am about 30 pounds so I am not going to be a large dog. I like riding in cars and usually fall asleep right away. I would do best in a home with a fenced yard as I would be unhappy being tied up and I wouldn't make a good apartment dog. I would also probably be better with older kids as sometimes I get too rambunctious! I would like to be in an active family who would take me for walks and maybe play frisbee with me. I would probably do best as an only dog or with a male dog. I am very curious about cats and want to get to know them but I want to play and they run away! I am spayed and all my shots are current. CONTACT KARIN beckylou13@q.com

Betty Jo Betty Jo

Betty Jo  ADOPTED!

Betty Jo is a cute Min Pin mix who is about 1.5 years old. She is an active, happy girl who loves to have plenty of exercise. She loves to play with toys and should be fine with kids over the age of ten. She loves other dogs and would love a doggy friend to run and play with.

Betty Jo is mostly house-trained but needs some work to become fully housebroken. She does know come and stay and only barks a lot if other dogs are barking. She is not destructive at all. Betty Jo is food oriented, which should make future training a snap. She will do anything for food!

If you are interested in this adorable pup please out an adoption application!

Chi

Chi  ADOPTED!

This is Chi, he is a neutered, male Shih-Tzu, somewhere between 2 and 5 years old and blind. He desperately needs a foster/adopt right away. He needs to be an only dog in a calm home with no children. Chi is not fully housebroken, due to his blindness. He was rescued as a street dog in Yuma and had nearly died from tick and flea infestation, but he is healthy and spunky now. Please fill out an application on our website if you are interested. It will not obligate you, but it will allow us to get the ball rolling.

Prema

Prema  ADOPTED!

Prema has been with us a year and is ready at last to look for her forever home. She arrived absolutely terrified, barking incessantly at anyone even vaguely near her, collapsing into a quivering heap when approached. Several people wanted to adopt her but couldn't get past her extraordinary fear. After several months the only people she tolerated were GBRR director Nadia Callou and the owner of the kennel she has called her home for way too long. We resorted to a light dose of prosac which eased her along for 6 months as more people joined in the effort to rehabilitate this sweet and traumatized girl.

Since February, with the help of an amazing team of volunteers and the dedication of a local dog trainer, Prema has made great progress and we have slowly been weaning her off the prosac. She is not regressing! She greets her team members happily, comes when called by the people she knows and loves to run and play ball with her handlers. Today she learned to sit n command! She's started going on walks and has shown us she is ready for life in a home. A very special home where she can bond and be with someone who will love and help her build confidence that she has never known.

Prema is extraordinarily sensitive and needs a quiet, gentle, secure home with a fenced back yard for games of fetch and gleeful running. She doesn't require a lot of external stimulation and is happiest beside the human she trusts with some run and play time outside.

If you have a place in your heart and your home for a loving, devoted, very sensitive and timid girl, Prema will make a loyal, gentle companion. She is house trained, kennel trained, spayed, current on shots. She is indifferent with other dogs friendly, submissive and detached. She showed very little interest when introduced to a cat. Mostly she wants to be with and attend to her human.

Trotter

Trotter   ADOPTED!

Trotter still needs a home. She is such a good little girl. Mellow, polite, spry and pretty, this 12 year old border collie - sheltie - something herding breed needs someone to love her and give her a comfy, gentle home for her senior years.

Caribou Caribou

Caribou  ADOPTED!

Meet Caribou, a seven year old chihuahua mix. Her foster family had been caring this cutie for an ill owner and unfortunately the owner is unable to take Caribou back due to the owner's health. So now Caribou is looking for a new home.

Caribou has been living in house with four big dogs and two cats. She adapts quickly when to new surroundings and plays with both other dogs and cats. She even sleeps next to them. She loves riding in the car and has lots of playful energy. She can run very fast but is not hyper or nervous. She was socialized around horses and alpacas this last year. Caribou is a loving, social girl who will happily adapt to any situation as long as she feels safe and cared for.

This cute dog is intelligent, alert, and interested. She loves attention and likes to be a part of activities but will sleep by herself and can be comfortably crated when needed. She has also been taught many tricks! Caribou has very short, no shed hair and loves to dress up in doggie clothes. She also loves food and requires a strict, healthy diet to keep her from getting too fat. She is house broken and has excellent house manners.

Caribou is spayed and up to date on vaccines. Please visit our website and fill out an adoption application if you are interested in this cute dog!

Bella and Gizmo   ADOPTED!

Are a bonded pair that must stay together. Gizmo is a grey and white Lhasa and Bella is a ShiTzu. These girls are around eight years old and socialize very well with other dogs, love children and love affection.

Both dogs are little "couch potatoes". They would do well in apartment situations. They are housebroken and can use a doggie door readily. They also both love little walks and trips to the dog park. Both Gizmo and Bella are very calm, quiet dogs that almost never bark, and respond to "no bark" command.

Both girls are spayed and UTD on vaccines. Please contact Golden Bone through our website if you think these girls might be a good match for your home!

Poopsie Poopsie

Poopsie  ADOPTED!

Poopsie came to us short term while his mom recovered from a terrible accident that smashed every bone in her face. She expected to take him back as soon as she recovered from multiple surgeries but life got hard after the accident and she has now found herself unable to care for herself let alone her 1 and a half year old, active dog.

Poopsie needs a home! He is a smart, agile, energetic, gets along well with other dogs. He is currently living in harmony with a half dozen other dogs of all ages and sizes. He likes to take the lead and would be happiest as top dog. He listens to commands and has dabbled in agility training during his stay with us. He is naturally athletic!

He would make a great dog for someone who wants a hiking companion, biking friend. Or for someone who loves to play fetch with their dog. He needs secure confinement and room to run. Although he can jump a 5 foot fence no problem he has chosen not to and will be a loyal companion when he knows he is home.

If you have a place in your home and your heart for Poopsie, please contact Golden Bone Rescue & Rehab or fill in an application

Two Boys Two Boys

Two Boys  ADOPTED!

We need to find a home for these boys together. Owner passed away. They are currently living with two little dogs and a large wolf dog and get along with everyone. I met both boys. They are extremely friendly and kissy. Took treats well. They were with her other little ones, and I could see they easily interact with them. She said as soon as she sits down, they rush over and get on her lap. These dogs would be great for an older person who wants a pair of delightful, housetrained lap dogs

Tigger

Tigger  ADOPTED!

Tigger is a 10 year young, neutered male Yorkie. He is only 5 pounds. If you are interested in Tigger, please fill out an adoption application. It does not obligate you to adopt, but it allows us to get the ball

Argos - adoptable dogs Argos - adoptable dogs

Argos   ADOPTED!

Argos is about a year old red cattle dog mix ( x shepherd?) He is mostly white, with reddish ears and subtle red markings. He is about 35lbs, neutered, has standard shots from Coconino H.S. and received rabies shot from Dr. V. from Coconino Humane Society - was picked up as a stray

Super smart dog who is good with dogs one on one, but overwhelmed by dog park deluge. He is learning confidence, and is very quick to pick up instruction!

Do not know how he is with cats or children. He is great on a leash, but shies away from cars if walking on a road. Good with strangers and riding in the car. He is learning how to play fetch and loves zooming around, especially with a doggie friend.

Argos is house-trained, crate-trained, and knows how to use a doggie door. I haven't heard him howl, but apparently when I left him with a friend, he howled after I left. I have only heard him bark when someone came to the door unexpectedly.

I have not seen any bad habits from this sweetie. He is super responsive to instruction and correction. He knows "Sit" and "Lie down" with verbal + hand motions. He is very friendly, nervous about new situations, often unsure about jumping into car but great riding companion.

Tommy Tubby - adoptable dogs

Tommy Tubby  ADOPTED!

Tommy Tubby is a wonderful little guy. He is not a yapper but will bark if strangers enter his yard or ring the door bell. He is about six years old and is a Chi X Papillion mix. He is cuddler by nature and would prefer to spend his time in his person's lap while they are reading, watching TV or some other activity. He does not have a lot of experience riding in cars and will stay at home waiting for you to return. He is fine with other dogs but needs his own lap to sit on. Tommy Tubby is a perfect dog for seniors. He likes to go for walks and is fine with wheel chairs, walkers and canes. He would make a great pet therapy dog. He has also spent time with teens. Tubby had surgery on his back right hip to correct an old break but gets around fine. Tommy Tubby's first family lost their home through no fault of their own and had to give him up. His second person had to go into a nursing home. Tommy Tubby needs a loving forever home. He is house trained and will use the doggy

Jake - adoptable dogs

Jake  ADOPTED!

Jake is an awesome medium sized greyhound/husky mix. He is super friendly, kissy faced, soft, sheds like a fiend, great with strangers. Loves women. But also fine with men. He whines a little when he wants something. He would make a wonderful companion. He is fine with other dogs, but probably not cats. He is not at all food aggressive. He will wait in line behind any dog to eat his food. Jake needs foster/adopt. He is a love bug!

Scamp  ADOPTED!

Scamp is a silky terrier who is a bit of a grumpy old man. He will need to warm up to new people and dogs. Cats are unknown and he needs a home without children. Scamp prefers men and can be aloof but he is a cuddler once you get to know him. His ideal home would be with a Dad who likes to hang out and watch TV and cuddle. He is way overweight for his short little legs so someone who will exercise him would be great to help get that weight off.

Being young pups they are fine with other dogs, cats, and kids. They are not potty trained yet and need families who understand that

young pups require patience and training. They will most likely be medium sized adults. Bart is the more playful of the two while Zelda is more the quiet, cuddly sort.

Josephine

Josephine  ADOPTED!

Josephine is a 12 year old ranch dog who needs to retire and settle into a comfy, cozy home with a loving family. She¹s slowed down and can no longer work. She¹s easy going, about 35 lbs, struggling with some arthritis in her back but overall healthy for her years. Josephine is good with other dogs, (currently living with 9 ranging from small to large). She is gentle with people and wants nothing more than to please and be comfy. She is nicely trained and has lovely manners. Spayed and current on shots.

Kahleesi

Kahleesi  ADOPTED!

Kahleesi thinks she is a Queensland Heeler. It's not a predominant breed in her appearance but she has so many heeler traits that we think it’s strong in her genetics. She's a beautiful amber red color with gorgeous gold eyes. Her body is sleek and athletic at about 50 lbs. We think she is a heeler-Vizsla-shepherd mix. She is about one year old as of mid-December.

Kahleesi is loyal and dedicated to her people. She can be apprehensive when approached by strangers. She warms up very quickly when she's established trust and turns into a playful, goofy pup. At home she is loyal, affectionate, happy, playful, and well-mannered for an active young dog. She is house trained, spayed, and current on shots.

She gets along well with most dogs when she's introduced gently and takes a submissive role with the other dogs in her foster home, but she can be dog-selective.

She learns very quickly, wants to please, and loves to run. More than anything she loves to swim.

Kahleesi would love an adult home with an active lifestyle and a securely fenced yard. Like most dogs, she doesn't like being left alone and would like at least one other dog companion or a person who can be with her most of the time. She would benefit from formal training and a home where she can be a loyal, dedicated best friend and companion. She wants clear direction and when she knows what is expected of her, she will do her very best to comply.

Sir Edgar Allen Pugglesworth

Sir Edgar Allen Pugglesworth  ADOPTED!

Sir Edgar is a one year old Pug/beagle mix who weighs about eight pounds. He is shy when you first meet him but once he warms up and learns that he can trust you he is very sweet and cuddly. He has lived with other dogs and cats but would do best in a home without young children. He is housebroken and knows basic house manners.

Poppins

Poppins  ADOPTED!

Poppins is a three year old yorkie/chihuahua mix who weighs about 6 pounds. Poppins is housebroken, crate trained, and gets along well with other dogs of all sizes. She is also good with cats. Poppins loves people of all ages. She isn't yappy and sheds very little.

Pongo

Pongo  ADOPTED!

Committed foster home or forever home needed! Please fill out a foster or adoption application if interested!

Pongo is a one year old Jack Russell/Rat Terrier mix male. This playful little guy is super outgoing and loves other dogs. Pongo is very active and loves to play. He can be a little "mouthy" when he is playing (and that is getting better with work) but otherwise is not nippy or mean. He is afraid of young children (he wants to hide from them) but other than that he seems to love everyone he meets.

Pongo is fully housebroken and crate trained. He doesn't like to sleep in a crate at night though, he wants to sleep with his people in bed. He has pretty good house manners but will sneak food if he can reach it. He loves antlers and Nylabones to chew on and loves to play tug-a-war. He also walks great on a leash and loves walks. He loves other dogs who will play with him. He is very smart and knows his name.

When Pongo was first rescued he was a terrified little guy who was so afraid that he would snap and growl. Those days have passed and now he greets every adult he meets with kisses and a wagging tail. He loves to sit on any available lap and be held like a baby. The only time he gets mouthy is if you rough house with him but if you stop the game and tell him "no" than he will stop. He is definitely an indoor dog who doesn't want to be left outside...he will follow you around the house all day. He is currently living with a large group of dogs of various sizes but would be happiest living in a home with 1-2 other dogs where he can get lots of attention.

He has been learning not to bark at or jump on people and is very smart. He is a great sleeper and loves to cuddle in bed. He is great with other dogs but has never been around cats. If you are interested in this handsome fellow.

Star is a 6-year-old American Bulldog who came in as a stray to Yavapai Humane Society after being left in the back yard by her former owner when they moved out of state. Star is sincerely calm and precious company and certain to be treasured by your family. It is best that the children are older (3+) due to her size as she currently weighs 80 pounds. Star is a stunning walker on leash with a freedom harness who comes when called and an easy mannered, go-with-the-flow kind of gal. Star is low-maintenance as she doesn’t require much in the way of activity as she is all about her human(s). A nice walk or car ride is great but she treasures time spent relaxing being next to you.

Hank

Hank  ADOPTED!

Hank is 12 years old. He's a fine, active, senior gentleman Catahoula/Cattle Dog mix. His mom took wonderful care of him and loves him deeply but she became very ill and nearly died. She has had a long road to recovery and now cannot live with the pathogens in a home with animals. She lost her career, her home, and nearly her life and has not seen her beloved boy for a year. He has been in a home-boarding-foster since his mom was taken to the hospital in Wyoming where Hank still lives. He has been cared for well but his time there is up. Hank loves to be around women and is a mamas boy by nature. We have a pilot willing to transport Hank to his loving forever home ANYWHERE in the U.S.

This sweet boy loves to be around his people and will never go far from the person he's bonded too. He wants to be at ready by his owner's side. He loves walks and is wonderful both on and off leash. He also loves water and loves to swim. Hank is used to acreage and loves outdoor time as well as indoor home time with his person.

Hank is very protective of his people but not in an aggressive way. He is steadfast and calm and barks only when warranted. Hank has had extensive training. He is obedient, eager to please and learns new commands easily, even in his senior years. When he bonds with you, he will do anything that you ask with integrity and love.

Hank is very gentle but can be a bit nervous around very young children. He would do best in an adult home or a home with older kids or children who are very dog savvy. he is still an active senior and enjoys hikes and walks. He would love a spacious yard. But most importantly, Hank needs someone who will love him and cherish his loyal companionship.
